GUEST BLOGGER - convertible desk

Chris's desk solution for the small space living, video game loving, cohabiting man.
---------------------
We live in a very small condo in downtown Boston, Sandra and I share about 650 square feet. When you live in a space this small, you learn to be very creative in how you use it to make the most out of what you've got.

One of the biggest challenges of living in a one-bedroom condo is that there really isn't a good place to put your computer. A lot of people in this situation use laptops because laptops don't take up much space and they are easy to 'hide' when you aren't using them. Us [gamers] are not like a lot of people though, and we need a bit more horsepower to play the games that we like so much. So, for the first few months of living here, I had a big ugly computer desk right in the middle of my nice living room.

One of the first things that I did while we were settling into our new place was to come up with a solution for hiding all of the computery parts while I wasn't using them. Inspired by the Crate and Barrel Incognito desk, I took an old computer desk, built cabinet doors and painted the whole thing black.

If you didn't know better, you would think I just had a flatscreen TV...

But, it's actually a computer...

That turns into a gaming station!
