NOT SO FAST

I ordered Speed Knitting: 24 quick and easy projects, and started the Button-Up Pillow Cover pattern over the weekend. I'm still a beginner really, and this project is a good example of that. After the two way commuter rail ride, equaling about 1hr of travel, this was as far as I got! I made several mistakes and had to keep starting over. Maybe I'll stick to the simpler projects of awhile longer.

Cleo thought it was a good start.

EXPERIMENTS IN FELT

After making the fabric stash baskets, I wanted to see what I could do with the 1/8" industrial felt following a similar pattern. First try didn't come turn out so great, I grew to dislike it more as the day passed, and seam ripped it by dinner. As my boyfriend put it "that looks more Dr. Seuss than housewares".

I'm not giving up though, I'll try again, until I get something I like.

PILLOW CASE

Last night I made a bright pillow case to add some color to our dark gray couch. I'm not sure if I want to sell pillow cases for my esty site as there are already 100s on there...But they're so fast and easy to make!

SHOP OPEN

This week I opened my Etsy shop! Starting with some industrial felt items and plan to add a variety of materials and products later. I started with a series of coasters and chair pads.

Today I'm working on a new design for an industrial felt chair cover. I'm pretty obsessed with making folding chairs comfortable and cool looking, as we have several of them stored in the basement for whenever an extra person or 6 stop by. When you don't have a dinning room, and your storing things in a damp basement, cheap folding chairs are the way to go. That doesn't mean they can't get be comfortable and get dressed up a bit for company! Also, good for the patio.

SEWING MACHINE COVERS

Working on more sewing machine covers, this time for the etsy shop. I'm trying to pick fabrics that would look good on a shelf or a desk. My sewing machine is always on my desk, but the cover kind of disguises it without looking to hokey (I think anyway).

STENCILS

I wanted to make more of the felt coasters, but this time with text. Unsure how much I'd like them, and because I didn't feel like buying anything, I printed and cut my stencils from regular printer paper. Depending on how it goes, I may invest in real stencils so I can reuse them for multiples.

LAPTOP SLEEVE

I really like the look of the laptop sleeves from hard graft, however I can't justify spending the nearly $80 it costs to purchase one. I tried to make something similar myself with some reasonably priced extra soft 1/8" gray felt.

I didn't go about creating this the best way, but that's usually how it works the first time I make something.
